On March 12, the exhibition project “Dostoevsky. A Writer’s Diary ". On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky. The project was organized with the active participation of the Kaluga Regional Scientific Library named after V.I. V.G.Belinsky.
The name was not chosen by chance. Like FM Dostoevsky’s unique mono-journal "The Writer’s Diary", published in the last years of the author’s life and including notes about current events, memoirs and works of art, the author’s personality and his work are widely and variedly revealed.
The museum will host four chamber exhibitions throughout the year. The first, dedicated to the formation of the writer, displays graphics from different years from the collection of the KMII, as well as rare book editions provided by the library. The viewer will be able to get acquainted with the places of Dostoevsky in St. Petersburg, which are associated with the early period of his life and work: the Engineering School (Mikhailovsky Castle), where the future writer entered the third conductor class, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, opposite which, in the Shil’s Profitable House, in 1847-1849 Years Dostoevsky rented a room before his arrest in the Petrashevsky case, the Peter and Paul Fortress, where he spent 8 months in prison before being exiled to Siberia. The exposition also includes a portrait of Emperor Nicholas I, by whose will Fyodor Mikhailovich was sent to hard labor, which influenced his entire future life and worldview.
The first exhibition “Dostoevsky. Diary of a Writer: Formation "will be held from March 12 to May 9, 2021 at the address Kaluga, st. Lenin 103 (IOVTs).
