On the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts presents to the attention of viewers the exhibition "Days of War. 1941-1945", thereby joining the general celebration of the liberation of our Motherland from the Nazi invaders, expressing sincere gratitude and appreciation to our heroic ancestors.

The exhibition will feature works from the private collection of Denis Erokhov, as well as works from the funds of the branches of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts, the Ulyanovsk Picture Gallery and the Tarusa Picture Gallery. Most of the presented authors are Honored and People’s Artists (A. Deineka, A. Plastov, G. Nissky, I. Evstigneev, B. Nemensky, L. Soyfertis, B. Shcherbakov, etc.)
All the artists whose works the viewer will see were born before the Great Patriotic War, which means that they were either eyewitnesses of those events or direct participants in the military actions. Many authors were front-line artists, went to the battlefields, where they made life-like sketches and drafts, on the basis of which canvases painted in oil on canvas were subsequently born. At the exhibition, you will be able to see those very drawings that were born in the breaks between battles, they contain the strength of spirit, sincerity and heroism of a simple Russian soldier. Here we will not see ceremonial works. Most of the works are gloomy and severe, and their plots tell about the unsightly reality of war: hunger, destruction, death, selfless feats and faith in imminent victory and peace.
