The Russian Academy of Arts presents a new stage of the traveling exhibition project “Dialogue in Time,” dedicated to contemporary fine art. The exhibition consists of works of painting, graphics and sculpture by more than 50 authors, including academicians of the Russian Academy of Arts and the USSR Academy of Arts, whose work remains relevant and in demand today, as well as talented artists from the regions.
The project will become the premiere for the new exhibition halls of the multifunctional complex “Gostiny Dvor” in Rostov Veliky. The ancient city, which is rightfully considered the spiritual and sacred center of Russia, according to the organizers, should also acquire the status of a center of modern culture. It is interesting that the historical building of Gostiny Dvor was built in the 19th century to the design of the famous St. Petersburg architect, academician and rector of the Imperial Academy of Arts Abraham Ivanovich Melnikov (1784-1854). Continuing the historical connection of times, the exhibition project of the modern Russian Academy of Arts will be the first to be presented in the new reconstructed space.
The title of the exhibition is borrowed from the work of the same name by Nikolai Mukhin (1991, canvas, tempera, oil, 200x230) and carries an important aspect for understanding the role of art in understanding life. The artists share their spiritual experience, which the viewer lives together with the author, thanks to professional skill and creative energy that fills the work. The topic of “Dialogue in Time” today seems especially important for understanding the great heritage, the cultural code that Russian masters have preserved for many centuries. The Russian Academy of Arts is a kind of outpost that defends in our country the best traditions of fine art, a unique professional school that has no analogues in the world. The Academy continues educational and educational work, organizing large-scale traveling art exhibitions and scientific and practical conferences throughout the country.
According to the curators, the project will become an open platform for dialogue with the viewer of outstanding contemporary artists of the 20th-21st centuries, introducing them to the work of masters whose works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the funds of the Russian Academy of Arts, and other major museums in our country. The name of each artist represented in the project is already a certain sign, behind which there is a whole stage or direction of fine art: Pyotr Ossovsky, Dmitry Zhilinsky, Igor Obrosov, Andrey Mylnikov, Alexey Shmarinov, Efrem Zverkov, Lev Shepelev, Viktor Ivanov, Pavel Nikonov, Zurab Tsereteli, Victor Kalinin, Nikolay Mukhin, Victor Glukhov, Evgeny Maksimov, Alexander Rukavishnikov, Albina Akritas, Irina Starzhenetskaya, Anatoly Komelin, Victor Razgulin, Leonid Baranov, Alexander Tsigal, Dmitry Tugarinov, Gennady Krasnoshlykov, Sergey Milchenko, Alexander Teslik, Vladimir Sokovnin, Konstantin Petrov, Evgeny Romashko, Elena Tsereteli, Tatyana Kochemasova, Elena Rzhevskaya, Irina Glukhova, Yulia Smirnova and many others. The exhibition will also feature video interviews with authors from the series “PROprofessionals PRO creativity” of the Russian Academy of Arts.
The presented project is a continuation of a number of events that were successfully held last year in Yaroslavl, and at the beginning of the year - in the capital’s academic halls, and received a great public response.
