The new project of the artist is dedicated to issues of self-identification.
One of the essential features of a person that distinguishes him from other living beings is the ability to acquire his own identity (from lat. Identificus - identical, identical). Identification by a person of himself and presentation of himself to others are the most important conditions for communication and joint activities of people.
Reflecting on this topic, in his new project Danila Polyakov comes to the conclusion that people are distinguished from each other only by the upper layer of the skin, starting from the next layer, the dermis, these differences become insignificant.
In his thoughts, the artist goes further and finds the connecting thread between generations of people, providing a series of phobias, desires, questions of sexuality. Eternal problems that, according to Danila, have not changed significantly over time. Desires to stand out from their own kind, to preserve youth have not changed at all. The same thing is with body decoration. - Clothing modifies anything. But this modification is nothing new, the artist concludes.
Working on Derma, Danila created a series of textile works that reflect the artist’s deeply personal perception of the world around him and the search for his own identity. In the center of the project is a doll, a body without an upper layer of skin. The prepared parts of the object are involved in a joint photo project with Dmitry Zhuravlev, which will also become part of the exhibition. His fabric objects on the walls of the exhibition space, here symbolize the very element of difference, thanks to which we read information about each specific person.
Danila Polyakov is an artist working in the genre of performance, drawing, photography, and the creator of textile objects. His creative style was influenced by the model past - the constant change of images led Danila to pure art and a special look at the nature of things.
