“The Warmth of the Native Land” is the project of the Borey Gallery, which presents an exhibition of paintings and graphic works by the painter, graphic artist, sculptor, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, People’s Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan Damir Ishemgulov. The exhibition is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the artist. The exhibition will feature graphic and pictorial works of the 1960–2000s, in total about 80 exhibits.
Damir Ishemgulov is a special phenomenon not only in the Bashkir, but also in the Russian art space. His paintings are simple stories about the village, about the beauty and dignity of its inhabitants, about the spiritual values of the people. At first glance, the chamber theme of the exhibition - native places, native village - thanks to the talent and scale of the artist’s personality, grows into a poem about the Motherland. The work of Damir Nuritdinovich, inextricably linked with the traditions of the Russian avant-garde, especially with the non-primitivism of M.F. Larionov and N.S. Goncharova, is inherently original in its spirit. A man, his hard work, rare moments of rest, daily affairs and worries, earthly joys, even details that seem insignificant at first glance, of a simple rural life, take on the significance of the event, and the unity of these events - life - is the true content of the epic narrative that the artist leads. His paintings are a kind of parable - he does not illustrate events, but creates a kind of ideally sublime model of folk life, to which mythological imagery is added and something archaic, close to folklore, is felt.
