At the exhibition of Ekaterina Stefkovskaya “Reading between the lines. The View of a Film Artist” presents two series of sketches: “The Dwarf Nose”, a fairy tale by the German writer V. Gauf from the anthology “The Sheikh of Alexandria and His Slaves”, and a comedy by N.V. Gogol’s "Inspector". The sketches show moments that emphasize the spirit of the work, which take the viewer into the “universe” of a fairy tale.

Studying at the department of the skill of the film artist and the experience of working in the cinema formed Stefkovskaya’s own view of reading a literary work. There is a vision of space, environment, characters that exist outside the plot and descriptions in the book. An artist in cinema works seriously with details, with the history of material culture, it is important for him to fill the space of a sketch with “life”, preserving the image behind a literary work, a literary script.

The role of sketching technique and art materials is an important part of the implementation of the plan.
