The ABRAMOVA GALLERY space hosted the Humanity Without Man exhibition, which brought together the works of 10 artists: Nadezhda Kosinskaya, Polina Orlova, Alisa Gorelova, Sasha Stakanova, Sasha Kokacheva, Maria Larionova, Selena Isho, Oksana Afanasyeva, Katerina Borodavchenko, Olga Aksyonova.
“Humanity Without Man” is a study of human nature, an appeal to humanism, through the prism of humanitarian crises and catastrophes of our time, when the focus of artists’ attention shifts to pictorial figurative plasticity and unexpected readings of familiar topics are revealed.
Each of the authors chooses their own medium: embroidery, monotype, ceramics, painting, graphics, etc. In the works of the participants, the philosophical concept of “man” as a biosocial being plays a significant role. In the sensitive, penetrating images of young artists, a desire to comprehend the foundations of humanity and an appeal to the fragility of the body shell is revealed. The exhibition documents the ongoing processes and changes in art, raises existential questions, and invites you to think about the meaning of the concept of "humanity" in the context of our time.
