The exposition included about 60 graphic works of different years.
S.P. Lomov was born in 1948. In 1980 he graduated from the art and graphic department of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. V.I. Lenin. Doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. He is a member of many expert, scientific, methodological, art councils and commissions. For about 20 years, the artist headed the Faculty of Fine Arts and Crafts at Moscow State Regional University. He is the author of serious scientific works, monographs, and fine art textbooks for pupils and students, including “Painting”, “Russian painters of the 18th-19th centuries”, “Ethnopedagogy and folk crafts”, “Information technologies and art”, “Fundamentals of color science”, “Ornamental composition”, etc.
Along with scientific and pedagogical activity, S.P. Lomov is actively engaged in creativity. As a painter, he is known to a wide audience. His watercolors and easel paintings are executed in a classical manner, in them the artist acts as a follower of the traditions of Russian realistic art. The artist’s creative method has a wide range of technical capabilities: from academic glazing, impressionist “alla prima” to the laconic style unity of the chosen landscape motif.
S. Lomov prefers a landscape in which his creative vocation is revealed most vividly and distinctively. His watercolors are emotional, marked by a special mood, the state of mind of the author, caused by a deeply personal experience of even the most simple landscape motifs, gaining a romantic intonation from the artist. He sees and conveys the discreet beauty of Central Russian nature in its constant renewal, the powerful movement of natural forces, filling the landscapes with spiritual content and depth.
Particularly interesting is the series of watercolor works devoted to the historical and cultural centers of Russia: the majestic architecture of the Solovetsky Monastery, the quiet streets of Sergiev Posad, the bright and joyful views of ancient Suzdal, small village churches and cozy courtyards of the Tver heartland. One of the favorite motives is the sea landscapes of Italy, Greece, Crimea. A subtle colorist, he conveys with captivating sincerity a fleeting, constantly changing state of nature at different times of the year and day - sunset on the lake, thaw, snow sparkling under the rays of the winter sun, landscape after rain. The relations of space and air, light and shadow in the works of S. Lomov give rise to a unique atmosphere of beauty and harmony of the recognizable and at the same time endlessly changing face of living nature.
S. Lomov travels a lot and organizes foreign plein airs for his students. Impressions of these trips of the artist are emotionally presented in works performed in Italy, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, France. Of undoubted interest is a series of watercolors dedicated to Iceland.
The artist’s works are regularly exhibited both in Russia and abroad.
S. Lomov was awarded the Medal “Worthy” and a diploma of the Russian Academy of Arts, silver and gold medal of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia.
