Exhibition “I and THEY.Three Sisters ”in the Moscow Art Theater Museum is an attempt to answer this question.

Viewers will be able to see the autographs of Chekhov and Stanislavsky, photographs and costumes for productions and video installations on the theme of Chekhov’s play. In addition, they will be given the opportunity to watch rare recordings of performances based on The Three Sisters, interpreted by various directors. Artist Boris Kocheyshvili is one of the most significant and curious interpreters of Chekhov’s play on the art scene. He has been fascinated by the Three Sisters storyline since the early 1970s, varying it in his graphics, painting and reliefs. They will also be seen by the public - about a hundred of the artist’s works, executed in different techniques, will present the audience with an unprecedented variety of plastic solutions of the cult plot.

The exhibition at the Moscow Art Theater Museum - in the House-Museum of K. S. Stanislavsky will become a multimedia preface to the personal exhibition of the artist Boris Kocheyshvili, which opens at the State Tretyakov Gallery on November 11, 2021.

Boris Kocheyshvili (b. 1940), graduated from the art school in 1905, then studied at the studio of Ignatius Nivinsky. Kocheyshvili has long been well known as a graphic artist. However, for many years he has been painting, creating sculpture, and his poems were included in poetic anthologies along with the poems of famous poets. The artist’s works are presented in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin, the State Museum of the East, the State Russian Museum, the Ludwig Museum (Germany), the National Gallery of Georgia, the AZ Museum, in more than thirty Russian regional art museums and in private collections around the world.
