The previous theater project of Dmitry Krymov and Leonid Roberman “Dowry” staged at the School of Dramatic Art won the prestigious theater prize Crystal Turandot in the nominations for Best Performance (Dmitry Krymov) and Best Actress (Maria Smolnikova). Especially for the producer Leonid Roberman, the nomination "For the creation of a unique non-state theater" was introduced.
DMITRY KRYMOV ABOUT HIS NEW PROJECT: “I don’t know what was stored in Proviant warehouses, where the Museum of Moscow is now located, but in Soviet times there was a garage of the General Staff, a stable of government cars, the so-called“ member cars ”- huge black limousines that are enchanting sometimes speeding through the streets of Moscow, bringing all the cars around in a tetanus and pulling into the ranks of policeman guards.
But they were being repaired, as it turned out, completely prosaic: eight or nine years ago, I was in one of the rooms of this amazing building, built in the mid-19th century in the Empire style by architect Stasov, and I saw puddles of engine oil not yet dried on the floor and attached to inscription walls: “Carburetor repair”, “Place of discharge of used oil” and the like. Government geldings, as it turned out (almost said "there were people too!"), Consisted of the same parts and were subject to the same diseases as our poor Zhiguli, Muscovites, and Zaporozhets. I especially remember these puddles of thick engine oil on the floor of a vast space, similar to puddles of black bad blood, drawn many years ago from the heavy carcasses of these government monsters.
I remember, I thought: the cars haven’t been driving for a long time, they have disappeared somewhere together with their owners, and their blood - here it is, under its feet and does not dry out. There was something even mystical about it.
In general, I see no reason not to put Pushkin’s “Boris Godunov” in this space with Timofei Tribuntsev in the title role, Mikhail Filippov in the role of Shuisky, Ksenia Rappoport and Paulina Andreeva in the role of Mnishek.
After all, “Boris Godunov” is about the fact that a person is no longer there, but his blood is. And it’s not going anywhere. ”
LEONID ROBERMAN, PRODUCER: “My tragedy is over; I scanned her out loud, alone, clapped my hands and shouted: “oh yes Pushkin, oh yes son of a bitch!”
Each has its own Everest. Climbers climb their peaks. Restaurateurs dream of a Michelin star. Seafarers in pursuit of the palm of the championship are launched in all serious. Filmmakers bow down (why should they just bow down!)
“Boris Godunov” is our Everest, Michelin, Oscar. In a word, our everything.
Everest, not yet submitted to anyone. Many tried to climb it, or at least get closer to it, but the place for the flag is still free. Director Dmitry Krymov and I decided to take this place and make our year 2019 the year of the expedition to conquer theatrical Everest. Conquer Moscow at the Museum of Moscow! Conquer the peak of Boris and set your flag. Yes, set so that everyone sees! Pushkin, re-reading Boris Godunov, “clapped his hands” alone - we will play and “clap his hands” together!
Will it be the same Boris Godunov? I don’t think so. Krymov is a director who conquers the peaks, following his uncharted paths that have not yet been developed by anyone. Following each letter of the author is unacceptable to him. I hope that with all due respect to Pushkin, Boris will be the next hooliganism of Dmitry Krymov. But this time everything will be even more hooligan, even more daring… even more scary.
"Tragedy about the trouble of Moscow" - in Pushkin. We have the playful metaphorical theater language of Krymov, which is more than ever in tune with the free, free style of the Pushkin tragedy.
And yet this is not the “Boris Godunov” that Pushkin has. It is an idea to take Pushkin and take another step forward in comparison with what he did, and in comparison with what the theater is doing today.
I really hope that this breakthrough will happen, because it turned out with our last project "Homelessness".
ALINA SAPRYKINA, DIRECTOR OF THE MUSEUM OF MOSCOW: “We are pleased to become a co-organizer of this project, which will revive one of the important pages of Moscow history in museum halls. It is especially valuable for us that our city museum goes beyond the framework of traditional formats and acts here not just as a stage for staging. It seemed interesting to me to suggest that historical objects from the rich and unique collection of the Moscow Museum play their role in the performance. “I hope that our artifacts will help create an atmosphere of immersion in ancient Russian history and will become a new means for solving the artistic tasks set by Dmitry Krymov, one of the best contemporary Moscow directors.”
