Thanks to digital technology, more photobooks have been printed in the world over the past decade than the previous century and a half. The book has long been not just a tool for transferring knowledge, but an autonomous form of art, "visual Esperanto." But how does the incredible popularity of this format today, especially in the West, compare with the development of new honey, with the possibilities of network publications, online galleries, multimedia projects, tumbler or instagram? Let us try to answer these questions and understand what is the peculiarity of the photobook as a form of creative expression and as a specific post-digital printed object.
About the lecturer:
Katerina Zueva has been the curator of exhibition projects at the Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography since 2010, program director of Photobookfest 2017. Her research interests are independent photography in the USSR in the 1970-1990s, as well as young Russian photography, author’s photo books.
Entrance to the lecture is by entrance ticket to the Center for Photography.
