The People’s Artist of Russia Sergey Stadler and the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra dedicated the Fourth Autumn Musical Marathon to the works of Ludwig van Beethoven. This event will undoubtedly become a worldwide sensation. For the first time, all the symphonies of the great composer will be performed in one evening by one collective under the direction of one conductor!
“A giant whose footsteps we invariably hear behind us,” Brahms spoke of Beethoven. According to the plan of the composer, Beethoven’s symphonies were addressed not to a narrow circle of connoisseurs, but to the whole “suffering humanity”: the will and energy contained in this music have not left anyone indifferent for more than two hundred years.
During Beethoven’s time, when there were no concert halls or professional orchestras in Vienna, the premiere of each composer’s symphony became a historic event. In the XXI century, when it is difficult for a demanding audience to surprise anyone, the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and Sergey Stadler offer listeners to become part of the new history of music. For the first time, all the symphonies of the great composer will be performed in one evening by one collective under the direction of one conductor!
Recall that the program “All Beethoven Symphonies” is not the first educational project of the People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Stadler. The previous Autumn Musical Marathons in 2014, 2015 and 2016 were dedicated to the creative heritage of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Johannes Brahms and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. These unprecedented concerts have a wide resonance in the media and among connoisseurs of musical art. The projects of the People’s Artist of Russia, conductor and violinist Sergei Stadler carry not only educational and cultural significance, but also have great social significance. Students, schoolchildren and pensioners had the opportunity to attend concerts of the cycle at discounted prices, some of the tickets were distributed through municipal and veteran organizations.
