About the performances
WEDDING
Choreography: Regis Obadiah (France)
Music: Igor Stravinsky
“Wedding” is a joint work of the Ballet Moscow Theater and choreographer Regis Obadia. Minimalistic scenery of “any city in any country”, four dancing couples, each of which represents the bride and groom, a ritual text where each word sets the rhythm, a bewitching dance, “sounding” like a song - this is Regis Obadia’s “Wedding”.
According to the choreographer, in his interpretation of the ballet, he tried to get away from the Russian or any other ethnic wedding ceremony as much as possible. For him, “Wedding” is an eternal history of the relationship between a man and a woman, this is the view of a modern person of the Web 2.0 era on family, love, traditions.
SACRED SPRING
Choreography: Regis Obadiah (France)
Music: Igor Stravinsky
"The best performance in modern dance" of the Golden Mask National Theater Award 2004
“Sacred Spring” was decided in the spirit of the choreographer’s favorite film “Stalker” by A. Tarkovsky, and today it looks like a retro-futuristic revelation. Regis Obadiah does not work with scenery and dancers, he works with four elements: fire - dance, wind - music, earth - sand on the stage, and water, which partners generously water each other. So Obadia creates his own universe.
Regis Obadia: “The Rite of Spring” was the embodiment of my twenty-year-old dream of working with Russian dancers on this material… When staging the ballet, we worked to evoke strong emotions and convey the energy that the audience should feel. ”
The ballet artists of the contemporary troupe of the Moscow Ballet Theater: Kamila Abuzova, Maria Bodrova, Galina Gracheva, Ann-Charlotte Kuyo, Olga Timoshenko, Roman Andreikin, Arsen Imenov, Alexey Narutto, Ilya Romanov, Alexander Shuisky.

EROS. MINOS.
Eros and Minos are two one-act ballets staged by representatives of the new Dutch choreography Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Juanjo Arques. They formed as professional dancers and choreographers precisely in the Netherlands, and this is clearly seen in their creative method. Young, progressive, extraordinary, they clearly understand how dance can and should be in our rapidly changing world.
MINOS
Nomination “The Best Performance in Ballet” of the Golden Mask National Theater Award 2016
Nomination "The best work of a choreographer" of the Golden Theater National Theater Award 2016
Choreography: Juanjo Arkes (Netherlands)
Music: Alva Noto (Germany) and Ryuchi Sakamoto (Japan)
The creation of the ballet Minos by choreographer Juanjo Arkes was inspired by symbols that fill the myth. Here comes the guiding thread of Ariadne –– in costumes, in movements of arms and legs that seem to go beyond the horizon. The stage area clearly outlined by light lamps is a labyrinth in which the dancers move towards each other. Blue, blue, turquoise, brown colors in women’s suits are like the waves of the Mediterranean Sea, which run onto the sandy coast of Crete. In the ballet Minos, an ancient Greek legend is filled with the wind, the smell of the sea and comes to life, picked up by the strong hands of the dancers.
Performers - artists of the classical troupe of the Ballet Moscow Theater: Konstantin Matulevsky, Kristina Ryumshina, Dmitry Prusakov, Sofia Gaydukova, Evgenia Goncharova, Mikhail Kirshin, Hayato Nisijima, Tatyana Gavryushina, Alexandra Kirshina, Julia Ovchinnikova, Olga Mordvinova, Liliya Kobyakova
EROS
Choreography: Annabelle Lopez Ochoa (Netherlands)
Music: Jacob Ter Feldhuis (Netherlands)
Annabelle took the ancient Greek myth as the basis of the ballet Eros. Once upon a time, a man and a woman were one creature with four arms, four legs, one head and two faces. They were strong and courageous. They impressed with their beauty and harmony. Thunderer Zeus, frightened of their power, divided this incredible creature in half, into just a man and just a woman. And since then, a man and a woman have been looking for their other half.
Annabelle Lopez Ochoa about the ballet Eros: “This is not a literal story. I believe that in man and in woman there are two principles: male and female. It is only due to physiology that we distinguish between a man and a woman. And, for example, in love or just in some kind of close relationship, people know both sides of each other. And if they accept both parts in each other, then love is born. In this way, you give a person a show of both its sides. I think this is the principle of love. We need to find the symbiosis of these two sexes. ”
Performers - artists of the classical troupe of the Ballet Moscow Theater: Konstantin Matulevsky, Sofya Gaidukova, Arsen Imenov, Alexander Kirshin, Julia Ovchinnikova, Olga Mordvinova, Evgenia Goncharova, Mikhail Kirshin, Dmitry Prusakov, Evgeny Galaktionov

About the theater
The Moscow Ballet Theater is one of the most unusual and extraordinary theaters in Moscow. A powerful emphasis is placed on the professional development of modern dance and ballet, on the active use of the new dance language, which is relevant today and will become a classic in the future.
In 2012, a team of young specialists came to the theater, led by art director Elena Tupyseva. She proposed a new approach to the art politics of the theater. Currently, the Ballet Moscow Theater specializes in projects in the field of modern choreography. The art policy of the theater is based on a multi-genre approach to the repertoire and includes performances of a broad genre orientation - from neoclassical ballet to modern dance.
Over the past 3 years, many premieres have been released in collaboration with Russian and foreign choreographers: Paul Mechia (USA), Chris Hering (Austria), Ivan Perez, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Juanho Arkes, Guy Weizmann, Roni Haver (Netherlands), Karin Ponties, Ann Van den Brook (Belgium), Nadia Saidakova (Germany), Rashid Uramdan, Regis Obadia (France), Alexander Pepeliaev, Anastasia Kadruleva, Artem Ignatiev, Kirill Simonov (Russia).
In 2016, the works of the Ballet Moscow Theater were presented in six categories of the Golden Mask national theater award. At the moment, there are two Golden Mask awards in the theater’s arsenal for the best performances of modern dance.
