On April 16 at 15.00 in the Gallery of Classical Photography, lovers and fans of photography will be able to meet with Mikhail Rozanov - a famous photographer, an interesting person, esthete and artist.
Mikhail Rozanov is the star of contemporary Russian art photography. He created his characteristic style both in works belonging to the category of contemporary art, and in fashion photography. However, the most expressive side of Rozanov’s work was the ability to capture architectural images. The artist removes the Moscow architecture of the 1930s, the glossy surfaces of skyscrapers, industrial structures (flyovers, factories, bridges) and classic Roman buildings. His works tell us about truly iconic Soviet structures and their unique architectural details. The author’s lens includes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Frunze Military Academy and, of course, VDNH as an image of a "country of victorious socialism."
In the framework of the upcoming meeting, Mikhail will talk about his vision of art photography, present works from the “architectural” series and answer questions from photography connoisseurs.
Mikhail Rozanov was born in Moscow in 1973. In 1990 he entered the Faculty of History of Moscow State University, then studied at the New Academy of Fine Arts, founded by the legendary artist Timur Novikov. He started photography at the age of 21. A few years later he began to take an active part in Russian and foreign exhibitions. Now the work of Mikhail Rozanov is in the collections of the Pushkin Museum im. Alexander S. Pushkin, the State Russian Museum, the Moscow House of Photography Museum, the Museum of the New Academy of Fine Arts, and the State Museum of Architecture named after Shchusev, the State Museum and Exhibition Center ROSPHOTO and other collections. Since 2010, Rozanov has been teaching at the faculty of photography at the British Higher School of Design in Moscow.
