Project “Architecture. Time and Geography ”brought together artists from Saratov, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Florence and Moscow. The first show of the exhibition took place in November 2018 in Moscow, in the gallery “On Kashirka”. In Saratov, the exhibition will be presented in an expanded format. The composition of the participants remains, but the number of submitted works will increase. The exhibition is a total installation, where there are two levels of perception: the work itself, the exact "portrait" images of architecture of different times and different cultures, the space of "living" of these objects and their historical past. The second level is the very construction of the city - the maze, into which the viewer finds himself, where you can feel inside the architectural model, a reduced city, where the “houses” are as tall as the viewer.
The concept of “Architecture in the visual arts” speaks of the way of thinking and the ability to construct space. Turning to the theme and form of architecture in painting and installation allows you to create a different synthetic form of the image. The composition and structure of architecture are not only a separate visual form, but when moving from a graphic element to a semantic one, they allow you to transform space. The artist’s appeal to the rhythm and construction of architecture, the contact with the “theme” itself allows us to determine the vector from volumetric-sculptural to graphic images. The beauty of architectural plans of different times from paper to artifacts remaining in the landscape is a powerful reference point for the artist.
The possibility of considering architecture in frontal projection and in the form of a plan and comparing these coordinates is very important.
The project involves paintings, digital graphics, objects and video. Thus, different ways of perception are affected: a static flat image, materially tangible objects and movement, the effect of presence in the video.
