Wonder of the world ”, which suggests touching the“ miracle ”of photography - in the literal translation of“ light painting ”(from the Greek. Φωτός,“ light ”, and γραφή,“ writing ”).

The Art Experiment is organized as a fascinating journey through the Museum accompanied by a guide, during which the audience finds themselves in a real obscura camera to experience amazement at the brilliant simplicity of the physical laws of the distribution of light in space (installation "Platonic Obscurantism" by the artist and architect Cyril Ass). They will find out what discoveries in the field of chemistry made it possible to preserve the image “outlined by light” and get acquainted with the device of the first cameras (the animated film “Wonder of the World”, created for the “Art Experiment” by the artist and director Daniil Zinchenko).

In the “Pinhole workshop”, all participants can make a pinhole camera with a pin hole instead of a lens out of an ordinary matchbox. In the “Workshop of Cyanotype”, visitors meet with one of the oldest photo printing techniques that allows you to create, for example, a New Year card using ultraviolet rays. In the space “DADA-Lab” - equipped with a darkroom with a red light - you can feel like an avant-garde artist and experiment in the photogram technique opened by the Dadaists. At the end of the route, visitors will find the Frozen Light photo studio, where thanks to shooting at a slow shutter speed, you can “stop” and fix the light in the most bizarre forms. Participants created at the Art Experiment can take with them.

The Art Experiment is the flagship project of the Garage Museum’s public program, launched in 2010. Each next “Art Experiment” is not similar to the previous one, however, the main protagonist of the project is always the audience, whom the Museum offers to discover in itself a child and / or artist.
