“To paint, so to be in flight, and for me there is no other, one wing with color, another light”
Aron Bukh
“… Looking at his paintings, you catch yourself under the impression that the artist has forgotten everything that he should be able to! There is no drawing in his paintings, however, as there is no black and white construction of the picture; Buch clearly does not seek to mix paints in order to achieve complex color relationships, i.e. he simplifies everything, approaches his work as a child, always with surprise and joy! In fact, Aron Bukh did in painting what Arthur Fonvizin did in watercolor. Its main achievement is freedom, when all the rules of drawing, applying paint, building a form become unimportant. It is difficult, incredibly difficult - to find your own unique face, but Bukh succeeded! His paintings of the late period are recognized instantly, immediately, and this is the main achievement: the artist moves on his own path. In fact, Aron Bukh evolved from an impressionist artist to an expressionist, and this evolution determined the master’s attitude to color, composition and rhythm.
The process of work of Aron Bukh is an incredibly beautiful creative act. He doesn’t just sit down at an easel and begins to paint a still life, portrait or landscape. This is preceded by a complicated preparatory process, when the artist sets himself up, experiences the future picture in himself. He says that "nature must not be perceived as it is, but inspired by it." Bukh tries to learn the essence of the landscape, a bouquet of flowers or a specific person, to penetrate, try to feel them, and only then, "hungry", literally, pounces on the canvas! He’s like a volcano that sleeps, but at a certain moment it suddenly wakes up and from its mouth a sheaf of smoke and fire erupts with noise - and an incredibly beautiful, seething fiery lava pours from the bowels of the earth…. ”
