The Moscow Union of Artists, with the support of private collectors, presents the exhibition “Aron Bukh. To the 100th anniversary of the artist” (1923-2006) “Painting, so be it in flight, and for me there is no other, one wing is color, the other is light,” said Aron Bukh.
Aron Froimovich Bukh never changed his name, and, having been born in Berdichev, he never hid this fact of his biography. He painted always and everywhere. From the age of three, it was no longer possible to tear him away from pencil and paper. In 1926 the family moved to Moscow. After the war, Aron came to the art studio of Konstantin Yuon. In 1947 he graduated with honors from the Moscow Regional Art School "In Memory of 1905". Since 1948, he participated in Moscow, republican and all-Union art exhibitions. Since 1959 he has been a member of the Moscow Union of Artists.
Aron Froimovich Bukh is a unique artist of the second half of the 20th century - the beginning of the 21st century. He began, as was customary then, his way in line with realistic painting. But soon nature for him becomes primarily an object for inspiration. He moves to impressionism and further, as an original artist, develops his own, instantly recognizable artistic style. Buch himself designated it as follows: “The main thing is to get out of the captivity of correctness. In the name of your personal truth."
He created paintings from memory - from his childhood, youth. He painted a lot from nature - the forest, old Moscow, still lifes and beautiful women. He loved to paint his wife Maya. And if he was left alone and there was no other nature, a different plot nearby, he created self-portraits in different techniques. The main thing is not to stop. Painting was his whole life.
Now his paintings are kept in the State Museum of Fine Arts. A. S. Pushkin, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and many other museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
“The finished paintings of Aron Bukh are always very carefully and meaningfully made things. Feeling the brevity of his human existence, and even more so artistic, the maestro paints his paintings as if it were the last time, brings the painting to perfection and stops only when he realizes that further one can only pierce the canvas! It is difficult, incredibly difficult, and that is why the paintings of Aron Bukh are almost always perfect, incredibly well-made and meaningful! ”, - Valery Silaev, senior researcher at the State Tretyakov Gallery.
He could never fit into the framework dictated by Soviet or other reality. Buch was an artist - a loner outside of time, and at the same time, he turned out to be a vivid symbol of his era.
The basis of his late style is texture. In recent years, he rarely used a palette, preferring to mix paints immediately on canvas. He applied them with wide brushes or a palette knife, or even with his hands or crumpled scraps of newspaper, achieving the effect of volume.
The exposition will include paintings and graphic works by Aron Bukh, created in different periods, from private collections: Sergei Alexandrov, Zoya Emelyantseva, Maxim Orlovsky, Lilia Slavinskaya, Elena Yakovleva.
Curator: Elena Yakovleva and Olga Ostrikova
