The personal exhibition of the famous Buryat artist Alla Tsybikova “I Remember” (1951 – 1998) will be held in the Irkutsk gallery of Victor Bronstein from January 26 to June 2, 2024.
Alla Tsybikova is an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. She was one of the first to combine traditional ethnic motifs with Western European painting techniques in her art. The artist chose various subjects - from everyday life to mythical and fairy-tale ones, creating her own surreal world.
She graduated from the Moscow State Academic Institute named after V.I. Surikov, but after that she did not stay in Moscow, but returned to Buryatia, where she lived her whole life. In the mid-1990s, two exhibitions of Alla Tsybikova were held in the USA, at the same time her first exhibition took place in Ulan-Ude. The artist died at the age of 47 and received the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation posthumously. Now Alla Tsybikova’s works are kept in museums and private collections in Russia, Japan, South Africa and the USA. The artist’s paintings are easily recognizable by their amazing strength and at the same time tenderness - warm and cold shades on the canvases seem to intertwine, complementing each other. Due to the characteristic color schemes, contemporaries compared her art with the works of Van Gogh, Picasso and Cezanne. The exhibition will include more than 60 works from the collection of the artist’s family. You will also be able to see watercolor miniatures on wooden tablets. In them, Alla Tsybikova seems to be telling ancient Buryat tales, and calm colors emphasize the texture of the wood.
