From 7 to 13 October 2021 in the cities of the Volga and the Urals, a special project of the Academy of Cinematographic and Theater Arts of N. S. Mikhalkov “Metamorphoses. Festival of One Day ”, which tells about the life and work of the great Russian classics AP Chekhov and IA Bunin. The traveling festival will cover four cities of Russia at once: Perm, Nizhny Tagil, Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk. Such a festival format presupposes an eventful program within the framework of one day with a change in the venue of the festival ("One city - one day"). The event is being held by the Mikhalkov Academy for the fourth year in a row with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Within the framework of the festival, a charity show of the Academy’s performance “Metamorphoses. Artists’ Wives ”with the hashtag #Thank youDoctors in support of medical workers who continue to fight the coronavirus.

The charitable show for all those who, without sparing themselves, are working at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic, emphasizes that culture is able to support and unite people even in the most difficult times. The festival day in each city will be full of thematic events: author’s lectures on the life and work of A.P. Chekhov “Everybody lies: memories of A.P. Chekhov and modern metamorphoses” will be held for a wide range of listeners together with the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature V. I. Dahl, master classes of famous cultural figures for actors and students of specialized universities.

The professional exhibition “Chekhov. Life Line ", created jointly with the State Literary and Memorial Museum-Reserve of A. P. Chekhov" Melikhovo ". It will highlight the four main periods of the writer’s life and work: Taganrog, Moscow, Melikhovo, Yalta. Visitors will learn about the origins of the writer’s talent, his literary and charitable activities, hobbies, friendship and creative ties. All four sections, corresponding to the periods of Chekhov’s life, will be illustrated with photographs, documents, objects of fine art.
The central and final event of the festival day in each city will be a charity show of the performance “Metamorphoses. Artists’ Wives ”(artistic director of the performance - People’s Artist of Russia N. S. Mikhalkov). This performance-designer is a kind of literary and stage collage, consisting of eight works by the classics of Russian literature A.P. Chekhov and I.A.Bunin.
One of the main features for the viewer will be the form of the play’s reproduction, which combines colorful 3D decorations and video sketches, created in the creative workshop of the world-famous artist Yuri Cooper.
The festival will become a popular platform for communication and cultural exchange with the regions of Russia.
This year, all events will be held in strict compliance with the sanitary and epidemiological requirements prescribed by Rospotrebnadzor to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators: the organizers of the festival will check that all participants have masks, the seating of spectators in the hall will be staggered, and the requirement for keeping a distance of at least two meters indoors.
Special project “Metamorphoses. Festival of One Day ”is held for the fourth year in a row with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Over the entire period of the project, the festival was held with particular success in 12 cities of the country (Sochi, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Essentuki, Ryazan, Tula, Kaluga, Orel, Nizhny Novgorod, Yoshkar-Ola, Cheboksary and Kazan). The total number of project participants was over 11,000 people.
