Alexander Rudenko (1909 - 1994). Parcels to the front from Irkutsk
Irkutsk workshop "Windows TASS" was organized in September 1941. It was headed by the legendary painter, graphic artist and theater artist David Shterenberg evacuated from the capital. Almost all artists who could then work in such a specific field of art as the military-political poster were included in the work. An important technical link was the team of stencillers - the wives of artists and evacuated. After Shterenberg left for Moscow in 1943, the workshop was led by Alexandra Madisson, and later by the famous Irkutsk graphic artist. The creation of posters required artists to be very responsive, resourceful and able to instantly respond to reports from the Sovinformburo. The number of the propaganda window usually consisted of six posters on one topic. According to the testimony of the national artist of the RSFSR, the head of the Moscow workshop of TASS agitokon P. Sokolov-Skal, "the Irkutsk workshop was one of the best in the country." In just four years of the workshop’s work, 126 issues of agitokon were issued (756 posters, about 23,000 copies). In the summer of 1944, a large exhibition of agitocon posters was organized. Several hundred original posters were placed in all the shop windows on Karl Marx Street in Irkutsk. Then, after the exhibition, about 600 posters were transferred to the funds of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum, where they are stored.
