On the night of April 24–25, a large-scale international action will be held in support of reading “The Biblical Night”. The general theme of 2015 is “Open the diary - catch the time.” The Biblical Night will become one of the central events of the Year of Literature in Russia and will unite not only libraries, but also literary museums, bookstores and Internet platforms throughout the country.
Library Night is an annual reading support project that was initiated by the library community and the Association of Culture Managers in 2012. Every year the action increases the scale and regional coverage of participants. Today, participants are more than 1,700 organizations from 81 regions of Russia.
Belarus declared itself a major event this year - for the first time in Minsk the First City Book Festival “City and Books” will take place, dedicated to the international campaign in support of reading.
The Republic of Bashkortostan became the leader in the ranking of regional activity - 446 participants and 743 events, Moscow ranks second - 207 participants and 615 events, followed by St. Petersburg - 113 participants / 137 events, Samara Region - 96 participants / 238 events and Sverdlovsk Region - 63 participants / 74 events.
Traditionally, the most active participants in the action are libraries - more than 90% of the participants, museums are the second most active, educational institutions are the third, followed by bookstores and galleries. Also, special events are held in cinemas, coworking, cafes.
The action event poster offers about 3,000 events for different ages and interests. In almost all Russian cities and villages, hundreds of libraries, museums, galleries, cultural centers and bookstores on this night will open their doors to visitors and present cultural programs with writers, musicians, artists, and artists on their venues and city streets.
Fans of intellectual leisure can attend the opening of exhibitions, installations, take part in public readings, exchange books on book-crossing venues. Those who prefer outdoor activities will be able to take part in bike runs, historical quests and even master classes in parkour. Among the special children’s events: biblical promenades in significant places, master classes in calligraphy of Japanese and ancient Egyptian characters, film screenings, literary karaoke and costume festivals based on works of literature.
Residents of remote settlements, where there are no museums, libraries, or bookstores, will also have the opportunity to take part in the events of Biblionochka. Over 50 bibliomobiles and bibliobuses equipped with the latest technology and having Internet access on board will go this night to their readers from various regions of Russia.
Residents of different countries show interest in the Billboard Book poster. Among the regular readers of the site are residents of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Italy, Germany, Kenya, Indonesia and the United States.

Biblical Twilight (RF)
Children’s programs “Bibliochki” will traditionally be held as part of the special project “Bibliotheca" Young readers will find a whole range of interactive events. All evening, until 10:00 p.m., fascinating quests, quizzes and master classes will be held for children. And the heroes of their favorite works will help them find themselves in a fairy tale and learn new interesting stories and facts.

The purpose of the special project “Bibliofary” is to attract communities to participate in the action where there are no museums, libraries, or bookstores within walking distance. Thus, “Libraries on Wheels” can become not only a means of transporting books, but also an important link in the library system of Russia, performing special social functions.
City in words (Moscow)
In preparation for the Bibillion Night, ten unique works in the public art format will be created in the center of Moscow, which should combine the work of contemporary writers and artists. Popular graffiti artists will depict illustrations for books by contemporary authors, as well as quotes from them, on the walls of Moscow houses. Each object will be equipped with qr codes with links to a literary work and the address of the nearest library in which this book can be obtained. All this will turn the urban space into a “Virtual bookshelf”.
Diary of a city dweller (Moscow)
Especially for the "Bibliochek" Library-reading room to them. I.S. Turgenev and the Department of Cultural Studies at the Higher School of Economics will allow everyone to take part in the creation of a collective work of art called The Diary of a Citizen. You will find a total installation, the material for which will be the diaries of ordinary citizens. Within the framework of the project, the diary can exist in a variety of forms, whether it be a classic text, video recording, a selection of photos or a page on a social network. The installation resulting from them will show how the modern city dweller sees and feels the world around him and his place in it.
Artist and book (Moscow)
A series of exhibitions dedicated to book illustrations will also open in Moscow on April 24. They will feature works by famous illustrators: S. Alimov, V. Pertsov, G. Kalinovsky, B. Diodorov, E. Monin and others. Also, festival guests are waiting for exhibitions of young artists, exciting lectures and creative evenings, master classes for children, comic book presentations and much, much more. In addition, the project will feature works by Russian and foreign illustrators in parks and boulevards in Moscow.
