SIBUR began a project to optimize railway transportation management Automatic translate
For SIBUR-Trans, which carries out rail transportation, SIBUR began implementing a project for large-scale digitalization of logistics, designed to optimize logistics business processes.
The amount of information available to the company will be combined for centralized storage and processing. This is data on rolling stock, locations of wagons, planned and completed transportation. The ability to process this data holistically will help optimize decision making. The project involves the introduction of new analytical tools that will help select rolling stock for a separate order, calculate the volume of transported cargo, and calculate the estimated travel time.
It is also planned to introduce an optimizer for shunting operations. He plots the ideal route for a locomotive transporting rolling stock to sorting. This will reduce the time spent on maneuvers and waiting for loading and unloading. The optimizer will work in Tobolsk.
The project manager expects to complete the implementation by the end of the year and use the team’s potential and experience gained to implement other projects. SIBUR will receive an economic effect from digitalization in the form of tariff optimization while reducing the total number of shipments due to consolidation, improving logistics for the repair of rolling stock, and reducing the cost of maneuvers during loading and unloading.
SIBUR is carrying out a global digitalization project, hoping to use the achievements of the fourth industrial revolution to transform business processes and achieve greater efficiency. Among the tools already implemented are Big Data, with the help of which the company hopes to improve product quality, virtual reality for staff training, robots and technical vision used in warehouse processes. Drones and intelligent video surveillance systems are being tested.
