Pictures of the 14-year-old Mini-Monet from Norfolk cost 2 million pounds Automatic translate
NORFOLK. Like all teenagers, 14-year-old Kieron Williamson likes to kick the ball with his friends after school on the field in his village of Ladem, in Norfolk (East of England). But outside the football field, it is very different from peers. A few years ago, reporters nicknamed Kiron Williamson "Mini-Monet." His work first appeared at exhibitions when the young artist was only six years old, and today Kiron’s paintings cost £ 2 million each.
“He was a simple, ordinary little boy, and then in the blink of an eye,” recalled his father, Keith Williamson. “Everyone just went crazy.”
The story began with the fact that during a family vacation in Cornwall, Kiron, who was only five years old, saw his elder sister draw and asked to give him a sketchbook and pencils. “I had never painted anything before,” the boy recalls, “but I fell in love with painting right away.” The work turned out to be so successful that a little space was allocated for them in the village gallery. "Since this all started. I didn’t even think about selling any of my works, I just liked to draw, ”he continues. “I was amazed that many wanted to buy my paintings.”
Success came to the genius boy quickly, literally in a few years making him a millionaire. Today, according to his father, his paintings cost "crazy" money. “We were surprised to find, and this is very strange at first glance, but despite all the money earned over the years, he is not interested in buying anything. He is not at all interested in computer games. He either plays his favorite football, or listens to music while he draws. ”
What tunes inspire a young artist? “The Housemartins and Beautiful South, I like relaxing music,” says Williamson. “Music certainly helps, especially to relieve stress in those days when nothing works. Sometimes I can spend the whole day trying to paint a picture, but it just doesn’t work out. When this happens, it is best to quit and go for a walk to clear your mind and return home in the hope that something great will appear on the canvas. ”
The key to his success, Kiron considers perseverance: he creates hundreds of paintings every year (although only two of them hang in his parents’ house). “I force myself, I try to meet my own standards.” But not only fame and success fell upon Kiron, he and his family quickly became objects of harsh criticism. While skeptics began to study his paintings under a microscope, the public began to blame his parents too clearly for his son’s huge earnings.
“This is a great legal and ethical nightmare,” says Michelle Williamson, mother of Kiron. “People, looking at his success, see only money and think that it’s all fun. They are unaware of the difficulty with which we manage to maintain balance within the family. We, as parents, must protect it from exploitation, we must be sure that we are doing everything right. And from the outside it seems that all we do is make it work. Buyers from China, Canada and other countries literally fight for his work. Sometimes a painting is sold out in a few minutes. ”
Despite everything, Kiron remains a simple, good-natured child. Most of all, he is upset by the lack of support for gifted children in schools. “We need more support for creative teams, this is the best way to express ourselves, get in touch with other local artists and develop our skills and talents.”
The future prospects of Mini-Monet look quite convincing, although he likes to entertain himself with thoughts about what he would do if he did not pick up a brush. “I would play football or ride a bicycle,” Kiron laughs. Parents have more ambitious hopes for the future. “I would like to be known as one of the great artists,” reflects Keith Williamson. “It is possible that I will not see this in life, but I hope that he will see.”
