Klimt’s unknown figure found in the USA Automatic translate
SAN FRANCISCO. The Lost Art Salon art gallery has announced the opening of a previously unknown, two-sided drawing by Gustav Klimt. This work will be presented in the upcoming exhibition “Time Capsule: A Lost Klimt and Other Viennese Treasures”. The drawing will be included in the full catalog of drawings by the Klimt Museum of Albertina (Albertina Museum), in Vienna.
Acquired at an auction as an unknown work, a drawing on paper depicts a portrait of a seated woman, which stylistically corresponds to the group of the artist’s works for the portrait of Sonya Knips, made in 1898. On the other side is a sketch of a naked lying girl, which the experts attributed to the group of drawings “Fischblut”, made for the magazine “Ver Sacrum”. The history of the figure found remains a mystery, nothing is known about its past owner.
These two drawings characterize the first steps of Klimt in the Art Nouveau style and give us a unique chance to see the development of technology of one of the most famous painters of Secession.
The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for February 14. It will provide a unique opportunity to admire the rich art worlds of Vienna at the beginning of the twentieth century.
