England will turn into the largest gallery in the world Automatic translate
The UK will become the largest art gallery in the world thanks to the unique Art Everywhere exhibition, which will turn thousands of billboards into exhibits of the most iconic works from the country’s national museum collections. The project will be launched on August 8, 2013.
Each resident of the UK can take part in the formation of the exhibition by selecting his favorite works of British art from a short list, which will be published on June 24, 2013 on the official website of the action arteverywhere.org.uk. Within one week, users can leave their likes here or on the social network Facebook. Reproductions of the fifty most popular paintings - TOP-50 - will be placed on billboards throughout the country for two weeks from August 10 to 25 this year.
Art Everywhere is a joint project of Richard Reed, co-founder of Innocent Drinks, the Tate Gallery Art Fund, and representatives of the advertising industry. Reed himself said that the idea came to him unexpectedly when he accidentally saw an unnamed painting in a window display on a street in London. “She was not signed, and I did not know why she was in this place, but I looked at her for 30 seconds without stopping, and this was an amazing experience,” Reed said. “I participated in many projects, but have never been involved in something as pure, simple and positive,” he continued. The organizers of the exhibition do not pursue any other goal than to give ordinary people of Great Britain the opportunity to enjoy the contemplation of their favorite works of art.
Among other things, anyone can become the patron of the exhibition by contributing to the program of its collective financing. A donation of GBP 3 will be used to purchase paper and print reproduction services. In addition, donations of £ 15 will be encouraged by specially issued limited edition gifts (brochure, t-shirt, bag) from British artist Robert Smith.
Such an unusual project is supported by many of Britain’s leading artists, including Damien Hirst, who said: “Art Everywhere is a project that everyone will benefit from. This is an amazing initiative that gives us the right to vote and the opportunity to choose what we want to see on our streets. ”
