In Florence, renewed searches for the remains of a possible model of "Mona Lisa" Automatic translate
In Florence, in the church of Saint Ursula, on June 29, the search for the remains of Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo (1479-1542), which may have become the model for Mona Lisa (Mona Lisa) at the beginning of the 16th century, resumes., Gioconda, 1503-1519) - the most famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci (Leonardo da Vinci, 1452-1519), the news agency ANSA reports.
The first stage of the study lasted from April to December 2011, but excavations were suspended due to insufficient funds. The first expedition managed to find a female skeleton, but, as it turned out, it was almost 200 years older than the time when the wife of the Florentine merchant Francesco del Giocondo lived. 110,000 euros were allocated for new surveys.
There are still different theories about who is actually depicted in the picture. According to various assumptions, in addition to Lisa del Giocondo, it could also be Katerina Sforza (Caterina Sforza, 1463-1509), Leonardo’s student, Salai (Salai, 1480-1524), there are also suggestions that Leonardo depicted himself in the picture.
