A new look at the Prado Automatic translate
The joint work of the curators of the Prado Museum, scientists and philosophers, has led to a new interpretation of the masterpieces of the art gallery, which will be available not only within the walls of the museum, but also broadcast on television and the Internet.
“A New Look at the Prado” (Otros ojos para ver el Prado) is the name of the project of the Madrid Art Gallery and the GISME scientific group, designed to convey to the general public the cultural content of the museum through audiovisual productions. This work, which is part of a project launched with the financial support of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), consists of many videos that give a new interpretation of such masterpieces as The Maid of Honor, The Garden of Earthly Delights and The Shooting of May 3.
During the project, the curators of the museum held discussions on scientific, philosophical and simply vital topics with scientists and artists in front of the cameras. After all, a picture is not only what you see on the canvas, but also a reflection of society, history, a combination of the author’s thoughts and obsessions, comments Javier Tejada, founder of GISME.
It was these considerations that led to the idea of looking at Prado’s masterpieces on the other hand, trying to combine what art connoisseurs say with what feelings these paintings evoke in different groups of people of different backgrounds and ages.
Audiovisual productions are grouped into three thematic blocks: “Open to see”, “Painting for society” and “Reflection of thought and art”.
The works participating in the project were selected by experienced museum curators and specialists in areas such as the origin of the universe, time, radiation, political power, the relationship between art and money, music, architecture, philosophy, technology and science.
