Guggenheim in New York will support artists from developing countries Automatic translate

The Guggenheim Museum in New York and the UBS Asset Management Organization have signed a cultural cooperation agreement that specifically decided to support artists and sculptors from South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa to expand the boundaries of contemporary art.

The five-year Guggenheim MAP UBS Global Art Initiative project will offer artists from developing countries a visit to New York to facilitate the purchase of their work by the Guggenheim Museum. The joint project also includes international exhibitions and educational events to stimulate creative exchanges and establish strong professional relations between artists and art teachers from Latin America, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

During these five years, the project will develop in each of the selected regions, starting from South and Southeast Asia. Guggenheim curators will visit each region to find works that reflect the new cultural practices and discourses of leading intellectuals in each region. Works selected for the Guggenheim MAP UBS Global Art initiative will be on display at the Guggenheim Museum in New York and will become part of the museum’s permanent collection. The museum also plans to make this exhibition a trip to some large cities, where names unknown to the general public can find new admirers, buyers and patrons.
