PENZA. At the end of the season, the Penza Regional Drama made a wonderful present for its fans - for two evenings in a row, on July 5 and 6, the theater artists presented the play “Visit of the Scarlet Lady”, written by a playwright from Sweden, Friedrich Durrenmatt. Pavel Artyomiev, a young director from Moscow, was invited to stage the play.

It was not just a premiere performance. “The Scarlet Lady’s Visit” became a benefit of Natalia Starovoit, with whom the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation celebrated her anniversary. Sergei Kazakov, the artistic director of the theater, in his speech before the start of the performance noted that this season was rich in premieres, which became benefit performances for theater artists.

The first performance of the season was the production of “The Kabbalah of the Holy”, which marked the anniversary of the artistic director of the theater. In the middle of the season, viewers saw “Filumena Marturano” - the benefit of actress Galina Repnoy. Before going on vacation, the artists prepared another premiere - “The Scarlet Lady’s Visit”. Sergei Kazakov emphasized that this unusual performance should become an event in the cultural life of Penza.

The play, embodied on the stage of the Penza drama by Pavel Artemyev, has long been attributed to theatrical classics. However, her directorial reading is far from classical theater. Although the plot of the play is not so simple, it is based on events that begin in a small town after the arrival of his former resident.

The extremely wealthy woman today once left her hometown after the betrayal of her lover. Upon returning, she longs for retribution for him, promising the residents of the city a lot of money for restoring justice. The tragic story is set by the director so that in some places it turns into tragedy. However, the director himself says that for him this story is a story about betrayal and love that cannot be betrayed.
