SHANGHAI. The picture of Harms, created by an international team with the support of several foundations, takes part in the competition of the XX International Film Festival.
Director Ivan Bolotnikov, a pupil of Aleksey German, who assisted the master on the set of the film “It Is Hard to Be a God”, is not the first time addressing Harms’s personality. In 2005, the documentary “The Miracle of Daniel Harms” was released. The help of several foreign funds - the Dutch Hubert Bals Fund, the European Eurimages, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and colleagues from Macedonia and Lithuania allowed to decide to create a feature film about the last decade of the writer’s life. His image was embodied on the screen by a graduate of the Warsaw Theater Academy and the St. Petersburg Academy of Theater Arts, Polish actor Wojciech Urbanski. Actors from abroad are also involved in several roles in the foreground. In working on the Harms script, Bolotnikov was helped by Sergei Solovyov.
One of the main characters of the new picture was the Northern capital, its streets and avenues. The interiors of the editors of "Hedgehog" and "Chizh" recreated, publishing children’s stories and poems of the rebellious Oberiut. One of the most tragic episodes of the painting is dedicated to the besieged Leningrad, the last days of the poet’s life, who died in the Department of Psychiatry "Crosses" on February 2, 1942. The film used compositions by famous St. Petersburg musicians - Nikolai Rubanov, Yuri Saltykov from "NOM", the group "Auktsyon", Inna Volkova from the group "Hummingbird", Mikhail Kolovsky.
The results of the XX film festival will be announced in Shanghai on June 26.
