The performances that Rezo Levanovich Gabriadze does from decorations to tiny lapels on costumes himself are known all over the world and do not leave anyone indifferent: from New York to Moscow, viewers cry over his Stalingrad. “This is water fire and steam, and the wheel is a simple thing that we understand. I talk about love, and this makes the viewer come to the theater. Love, love and love again, ”says Rezo Gabriadze.
The plot of the “youngest” and at the same time one of the oldest of the productions “The Diamond of Marshal de Fantier” is based on the adventures of the old general Prince Vano Pantiashvili in Paris. The prince receives a telegram about the death of his relative, the French marshal de Fantier, who bequeathed him a huge diamond.
About the play “Ramona” - a beautiful and tragic love story of two steam locomotives - the author says: “The performance“ Ramona ”I did for a very long time, because the steam locomotive, as a perfect image, accompanies me from my youth. You can tell a lot about the engine. Steam locomotives are bashful. When the sun sets, the steam turns red. From the engine, how do I go on vacation? I’ll take myself everywhere with me. So, I will think about how and what to do, what to draw or put, I will look for a solution. "
Autumn of My Spring is the story of Bora Gadai, a small bird with a big heart. The action takes place in the post-war time in the Georgian town of Kutaisi, where after the death of the organ grinder Varlam Borya remains the only support in the life of the grandmother of Domna. Without wanting it, he turns into a thief, falls in love with the beautiful Ninel and experiences many dangerous and exciting adventures. This is a story about a journey through dreams, despair, anger and joy. This is a magical mixture of puppetry, Georgian folk songs, dances and dear to the author of memories.
The world fame of the theater does not make Gabriadze’s art massive, the artist himself speaks of his art as follows: “I came up with a small theater for myself and hoped to relax in it and work in my workshop. Everything ruined the success. I turned out to be a hostage to the puppet theater for many years. But my dream came true - I returned to painting and sculpture forever. Everyone thought that there would be a theater where a carrot would speak to a frog, and that one on a dragonfly would rush off into the forest. Nothing of the kind happened. I opened a theater for adults. "
