The best films of the Message to Man festival in Kazan Automatic translate
KAZAN. The Center for Contemporary Culture completed the screenings of copyright films.
Four months ago, the annual Message to Man festival was held in St. Petersburg. The film screenings, which took place in Smena on January 27–29, introduced the residents of the capital of Tatarstan to the best copyright and experimental tapes of recent years that took part in the St. Petersburg forum.
Among them - the winner in the nomination “Best Short Film” - the Chilean-Danish-Lithuanian co-production of “I’m not from here” by directors (Maite Alberdi) and Giedre Zickyte. The bright, comedic, and pinched tale of the inhabitant of the Chilean nursing home does not “taxi” towards the hopeless chernukha, as would happen in the picture about the domestic charity houses. The main character, suffering from progressive dementia, brings a considerable portion of pepper into the measured life of the inhabitants of the “residence for a third age” (as these institutions are called in Spain). Dozens of years spent in Chile have not erased nostalgic memories of the Basque country left in youth. She persistently shares them with others, while the present is immersed in a poorly realized fog.
The fate of the inhabitants of another boarding house is dramatic for abandoned old people with mental problems, which the film “Manor” by Pierre-Luc Latulippe and Martin Fournier is dedicated to. Fournier met some of them in the 90s as a social worker. Overnight, older people are deprived of not only a roof over their heads, but also the only refuge for their wounded souls.
The organizers and the animation did not ignore. This category was presented by the Polish film "Impossible figures and other stories II" by Marta Pajek about a woman who suddenly found herself in a paradox full of dwellings. The company was made up of her short film “Among the Black Waves” by Anna Budanova about what happens to the souls of drowned people, shot at the Ural-Cinema studio in Yekaterinburg. “Import” directed by Ena Sendijarevic - a story about a Bosnian family who moved to the Netherlands - a kind of continuation of the history of her own integration in another country.
“Fire” is the thesis of a graduate of the workshop of Arthur Aristakisyan at the Moscow School of New Cinema, Nadezhda Zakharova. The name of the film is an accurate and capacious metaphor, the personification of the bewitching elements. The stories that pass before your eyes are a monochrome verb, black and white sketches for unwritten canvases, from which it is impossible to take your eyes off.
