At least three long expeditions to remote areas of the Arctic Ocean will require director Alexander Melnik to shoot a feature film about the Russian North Automatic translate
The presentation of a new cinematic project about the Russian North - the film "White Card" took place in Moscow. The film is directed by Alexander Melnik, known to the viewer for the film "Territory".
According to A. Melnik, the “White Card” will be removed on the islands of the Arctic Ocean - Novaya Zemlya, Svalbard, Greenland, as well as at the North Pole. Already in 2017, the film crew plans to go on long expeditions to these areas to shoot the film. It is assumed that each expedition will last at least one month.
White Card is a feature film based on real events. The action of the picture will develop over three centuries - from the time of polar expeditions of the beginning of the XX century to the distant future. “This will be an attempt not only to understand the significance of the Russian North for the history of our country and the nature of human achievement - when people overcame fantastic overloads and risks, exploring the polar spaces,” commented Alexander Melnik, “we intend to look into the perspective of the coming centuries, when the significance of the northern territories for Russia will receive completely new shades. ”
“It will be a mix of several genres - from historical adventure action to tough dystopia. It will be spectacular and very emotional. But the film will also make the viewer think about the most fundamental values of human nature and human relations, ”the director notes.
According to the film producer Anton Melnik, the production of the film will require significant funds, which are planned to be attracted through crowdfunding. “Throughout the world, crowdfunding is a fairly effective fundraising mechanism for complex and long-term art projects. We are sure that in Russia there will be a sufficient number of citizens who are not indifferent to our Russian North, and people who have mastered and are mastering it, ”the producer said.
