MOSCOW. Another performance, which was born thanks to the project constantly working at the Taganka Theater - the creative laboratory "Rehearsals", was seen by the first spectators. This time the directorial work of Vyacheslav Tyschuk was presented. In a short time, the sketch of the play “Petersburg”, staged by the director based on the novel of the same name, written by Andrei Bely, turned into a full-fledged performance. His pre-premiere screening took place on the Small Stage on May 25.

On the eve of the premiere, the director was asked many questions that Vyacheslav Tyshchuk tried to answer openly. One of the questions related to the choice of material for the statement. Many were interested in why the director chose Taganka, a theater with its existing audience, for such complex material.

According to Vyacheslav Tyschuk, the desire to create a play based on the novel by Andrei Bely, he had a long time. The director got the opportunity to take the first steps towards its implementation thanks to his participation in the Rehearsals laboratory. When creating the sketch of the play, Vyacheslav Tyshchuk worked a lot with the text of the novel, with performers of roles.

The sketch turned out to be good, it was appreciated by the audience, so it was decided to continue creating a play that could replenish the repertoire of the Taganka Theater. The particular difficulty of staging Petersburg was to solve the problem with the help of a stage text to convey the poetry of metaphors used in large quantities by the author in the novel.

The relevance of the theme of terrorism, which Andrei Bely made the most important theme of his novel, is undeniable. The director emphasized that while working on the play, he tried to understand what was becoming an impetus for people to commit violence.
