The premiere of the play "Maria" staged by the main director of the theater was held in the Omsk Drama Theater Automatic translate
OMSK. Georgy Tskhvirava, the main director of the Omsk drama, turned to the work of Isaac Babel. The new work of the main director was the play "Maria", presented to the public on February 2. The play is based on the play of the same name by Babel, published in 1935.
Some connoisseurs of the work of the author, who became famous for the famous Odessa Tales, believe that this play was underestimated during the life of the author. However, many of the literary critics speak of the play as a significant work that stands out among Babel’s recent works.
The events taking place in the play tell about the family of General Mukovnin, trying to adapt to life in the era of a change of power. The revolutionary Petrograd became the backdrop on which the life of the general’s family flows. It is interesting that Maria, whose name became the name of the play, does not appear on the stage - she went to serve in the army, where her personal life flows, an affair with the commander. The second daughter of the general, Lyudmila, is trying to seduce the successful businessman Dymshits, but to no avail. The general himself is busy creating a book about history.
Georgy Tskhvirava peculiarly approached the embodiment of the play, changing places of the audience and artists. The performance takes place in two spaces - at different ends of Nevsky Prospect. In one of them there are "Rooms on Nevsky", where Dymshits, the beginning mafiosi, lives. In another space, an apartment was located on Millionnaya, where nobles live.
Drawing an analogy with today’s time, the director claims that a new redistribution of property can again plunge Russia into darkness. Viewers who are not well acquainted with the events that took place a century ago, not everything that happens on stage is understandable, however, the director does not try to give explanations. The history of your country should be remembered.
