MOSCOW. On December 18, the premiere of the run “The Run”, directed by Maria Fedosova based on Bulgakov’s famous play, took place on the big stage of the Taganka Commonwealth of Actors. The directors do not turn to this play too often, considering it very difficult to implement on stage.

Almost thirty years have passed from the moment Bulgakov created the play “Running” until it appeared on the scene. The play was written by the author at the request of the Moscow Art Theater, but was forbidden in the rehearsal period. During his life, Bulgakov, despite the numerous corrections he made to the text of the play, did not have to see this work on stage. For the first time “Running” was staged in 1957 in Stalingrad, and in 1970 the play was filmed.

Maria Fedosova conceived the production about a year and a half ago. Now that the play has already been presented to the audience of the Commonwealth of Taganka Actors, the director admitted that the work was not easy. The performances of "Running" are now available in the repertoire of several metropolitan theaters.

Therefore, a comparison of the directorial version of the play, as read by Maria Fedosova, with the work of other directors is inevitable. Another difficulty in the work was the production of mass scenes. However, the director was not afraid of the upcoming difficulties, and Bulgakov’s play became the debut of Maria Fedosova on the Big Stage of the Commonwealth.

The director explained her choice of the play “Running” by the artistic merits of the play, its amazing imagery, and also the author’s courage. Bulgakov wrote a play that could cause very serious troubles. An important role in the embodiment of the director’s intention was played by the scenography of the play, invented by the artist Oleg Skudar together with Maria Fedosova.

After the performance, some viewers said that they did not just watch the performance, but lived it.
