In the director’s reading of the famous comedy, the number of characters significantly decreased - only the main characters of the play are present on the stage. The design of the scene is extremely concise - two cabinets with a table in the course of the play turn from Rosina’s room into gazebos, hiding the heroes mired in intrigue. They also serve as a platform from which actors pronounce their monologues. From the first glance at their costumes created by Irina Arlacheva, a wonderful artist, it becomes clear how crazy the day awaits the heroes of the play.

The light design, invented by Eugene Ganzburg, gives the ascetic scenery a tempting mystery. The backdrop of the scene, constantly changing color in the course of the action, transforms the stage space into a shadow theater at the end of the play. Heroes complete the performance by performing the original crane dance.

Since reconstruction is taking place in the Shelter of the Comedian, the premiere performances, which took place on August 8-14, were held on the Second Stage of the Bolshoi Drama Theater.
