PERMIAN. The Flahertiana Organizing Committee unveiled a short list of paintings that will compete for the grand prize of the show, Golden Nanook. This year, 572 works were sent to participate in the main competition of the international documentary film festival, which is almost twice as much as last year. In addition, the organizing committee of the award was looking for films at major film festivals around the world. The short list included 14 documentaries from Chile, Poland, Iran, France, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Scotland, Denmark, Israel, Russia, Romania, Spain and the Czech Republic.

Among the films participating in Flahertiana are the Scottish-Irish film directed by Lou McLoughly “16 years to summer” about a former prisoner, the Polish film “Verka” by Pavel Lozinsky about a girl preparing to become a foster mother and the British film “Syrian Love Story” by Sean McAllister about struggle for public and personal happiness. The Czech Republic will be represented by Eva Tomanova’s picture “Always Together”, Israel - “Trial Period” by director Avigail Sperber, France - “Spartak and Cassandra” by Ioannis Nouguet. In addition to these paintings, the “Queen of Silence” by Agnieszka Zwefka, “Surire” by Bettin Perut and Ivan Osnovikoff, “Toto and her sisters” by Alexander Nanau, “Shi” by Bruno Zaffor, “I Want to Be the King” by Mehdi Ganji, “Anders Circus” Riis-Hansen.

Also, two Russian films were included in the list of contestants. The first of them is “The Old Women” of the Permian director Galina Krasnoborova about the songwriters of the Komi-Permyak village, telling about their lives: husbands, children, illnesses and favorite songs. The second film is a road movie about two young Moscow guys who decided to go to the Olympics in Sochi under the name Long. Black The cloud is falling ”directed by Alexandra Likhacheva. Traditionally, all films participating in the main competition will be presented by their authors.

The international film festival Flahertiana 2015 will be held from September 18 to 24 in Perm. This year, the film forum will celebrate its 20th anniversary. In addition to the main competition, the festival will include screenings of Russian films and the work of debutants and students.
