KOMSOMOLSK-ON-AMUR. The thirtieth anniversary theater season at the KiAM Theater ended with a premiere performance presented to the public under the name “Sonka’s Dream”. When creating the play, the story “The Dream of a Funny Man” was used, the author of which is Dostoevsky.

The theater’s repertoire has a play on this work, however, the theater director Tatyana Frolova decided to again touch upon the problem described in the story. The idea of ​​staging the documentary performance-study “Sonka Sonka” by the director did not come about by chance. The impetus for its creation was the tragedy that happened in the family of one of the director’s colleagues two years ago. The colleague’s daughter, Sonya (her name was included in the name of the production), tried to commit suicide.

The creators of the play, combining the classics and history of our contemporary in it, are trying to figure out together with the audience what is the reason for a person’s voluntary departure from life. Dostoevsky raised the topic of suicide many decades ago, but today it has become even more relevant.

During the performance, statistics are voiced, its numbers are ruthless - every 8 seconds one person voluntarily ends his life on earth. The artists of the theater worked on the creation of this production for two years. After the premiere performances presented to the public on June 5 and 6, the audience was in no hurry to leave the hall where the production was discussed. Judging by these meetings between the creators of the performance and the public, the stage masters managed to convey the idea they conceived to the audience - not a single one was indifferent.

The next time the performance "Sonka’s Dream" the audience will see only in September, when the new season begins in the theater. After a short rest KiAm artists will begin work on a new performance dedicated to representatives of the nineties generation.
