MOSCOW. On the first day of summer, the solemn ceremony of completing and awarding the winners of the first International Independent Film Festival Esperanza took place in the capital of Russia.

The picture is a dumb parable about a boy living on an old ship in a war zone and earning a living by fishing, whose quiet existence is interrupted when a stranger appears in his “possessions”, claiming this ship.

The best film highlighting environmental issues was Carlos Gwintella’s Project of the Century. An art-documentary picture tells about the everyday life of three Cuban generations living in the same house in a small city in which the construction of the nuclear power plant planned by the USSR is about to begin.

The award in the competition for short feature films was received by the film “Burn Love” by the German director Jachim Glaser. The film is an adaptation of the acclaimed play “Round dance” by Arthur Schnitzler (1897), transferred to our time, in which everything is possible, since there are no rules, no boundaries.

In the nomination “Documentary Cinema”, the best work was “Honor your father and mother… yours” by a young documentary from Israel Alexandra Rakhmilevich. The film tells about two sisters who, after fifteen years of separation from their mother, decide to restore relations with her.

By spectator voting, the best film was also selected. According to viewers, Harriet Gordon and Peter Gotzelsa documented how global warming affects the popularization of penguins in Antarctica.

It is worth noting that in addition to the memorable figurine, the best feature film was awarded a cash prize of three thousand US dollars, while the rest of the laureates received an award of $ 1,000. And the prize in the amount of 100 thousand rubles was received by the film - the winner of the audience’s prize.
