MOSCOW. At the end of May, from the 24th to the 30th, Moscow will host the second International Festival of Films for Children and Teenagers “KOT”, the program of which includes more than 100 films from 27 countries. Guests of the film forum will have a unique opportunity to watch the latest cinema, as well as enjoy classic films absolutely free.
The main competition of the festival presents full-length paintings belonging to different genres and designed for different age categories of children. Among them are the musical comedy “Semitsvetik”, the Norwegian cartoon “Hocus Pocus”, the drama “Cool guys don’t cry”, the Czech tragicomedy “See the Sea”, the adventure film “Belle and Sebastian”, the teenage thriller “Labyrinth” and others.
As part of the KOTA non-competitive programs, Russian medium-length and short films created over the past few years will be shown. Some programs will be divided by a specific theme - some are dedicated to adventure, religion, children’s imagination, relations between children and parents, while others are tied to popular projects, such as Jumble and Merry-Go-Round.
In a retrospective competition, viewers will be presented with French paintings for children, children’s films of 1910-1939 produced by cult cinematographers - Roman Polanski, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Ingmar Bergman, Danny Boyle and Yuan Zhang. As part of the celebration in Russia of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, a documentary “Laugh” will be shown, which tells about small prisoners of concentration camps. The opening film of the KOT International Film Festival will be the Danish film Ant Boy about a superhero child, and the event will end with a screening of the Felix musical film dedicated to friendship, jazz and dreams.
The jury of the festival includes filmmakers Boris Khlebnikov, Stefan Apelgren, Mikhail Tumelya, Christian Duekier, Cecil Neubukon and Alexei Yasulovich. The Moscow KOT Film Festival is a forum that allows you to enjoy classic Russian paintings and get acquainted with teenage and children’s non-Hollywood films of recent years.
