NIZHNY NOVGOROD. The play “Shadow” appeared in the repertoire of the Nizhny Novgorod Youth Theater, directed by director Karen Nersisyan, based on one of the most famous plays by Eugene Schwartz. The play "Shadow" has an interesting story - the author finalized its text during rehearsals of the first production. Many theater directors addressed this play, creating original versions of performances.

An interesting coincidence - for the first time the performance “Shadow”, the audience saw in April 1940, and 75 years later, also in April, it premiered in the Nizhny Novgorod Youth Theater. Over the past years, the play has not lost its relevance. The theme raised by Eugene Schwartz in his fabulous story remains close to each person.

The traditions say that for a person the loss of his shadow is equivalent to the loss of his own soul. Schwartz interprets legends in his own way, believing that the shadow represents the second side of human nature, most often not the best. If you let go of the shadow of freedom, then anything can happen. However, having seen this dark part of his own soul from the side, a person can get a lot of useful knowledge.

A difficult story happened with the hero of the play - a young scientist. Once he got into a fairy-tale world, where he met a beautiful princess. She was so good that the young man instantly fell in love with her. The princess could not show her feelings, but turned her attention to him.

Only now, his own shadow, chosen by a young scientist for the role of mediator between himself and the princess, decided to start living independently, separated from the owner’s body. Moreover, the Shadow, turning into a man, began to try to make the scientist his shadow. The role of the scientist is played by Alexander Kharitonov, and his shadow is played by Arthur Zimin.

The director successfully uses special lighting effects in the performance.
