The Meetings in Russia festival is being held for the 17th time in St. Petersburg Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. On the big stage of the Baltic House, with the performance of Romeo and Juliet directed by Nurlan Asanbekov, the artists of the theater named after Gorky from Astana opened the "Meetings in Russia" theater forum. This year the international festival has been organized for the seventeenth time.
This year’s festival is dedicated to the seventieth anniversary of the Great Victory, but theaters representing ten countries brought performances of various subjects to St. Petersburg. All festival performances, united by the idea of people’s desire for peace, are in Russian.
Over the festival week, viewers will see fifteen performances. One of them will be created in the process of the festival by actors from countries that were formerly members of a single state. It will be presented to viewers under the title “First Day of Peace”, only once, on the day the festival closes. It will be based on poems and songs that were born in the war and later, after its end. The director of the production is Yuri Tomoshevsky, a theater director and poet.
Another action will be held on the Grand Stage of the theater-festival on April 9th. It will take place in the form of a concert performance called “Victory. One for all". Its participants will be not only famous artists, but also students of the Institute of Culture. Songs and poems will be heard from the stage, and even the audience will be reminded of the legendary performances created at different times in the theater named after Lenin Komsomol. Excerpts from them will be shown during the concert.
In parallel, the work of the Swedish director Pelle Olunda - "Grandfather" will be presented. The production was based on letters from soldiers who were enemies in wartime. In the play, the director used modern technology. With their help, he invites viewers to plunge into the past, feeling himself as participants in long-standing events.
