GATCHINA. On April 16, the 21st Russian Film Festival "Literature and Cinema" opened in Gatchina. This year the honorary guest of the festival was the Russian film director, screenwriter, theater and film actor Sergei Yursky. He opened a film forum and on the same day, the organizers presented him with a governor’s award in honor of his 80th birthday.
The opening film of the film festival was the comedy "Grandfather of my dreams" directed by Alexander Strizhenov. The picture, based on the story of Leonid Yakubovich, was presented by the author himself, as well as screenwriter Arkady Inin and Strizhenov.
In the competition program of the Literature and Cinema festival, films such as “The Hunt to Live” by director Sergei Nikonenko, shot based on the stories of Vasily Shukshin, “Correction Class” by Ivan Tverdovsky, created by the story of Ekaterina Murashova, and “Brothers Ch” by director Mikhail Ugarov - about young Chekhov. The picture "Two Women", based on the play by Ivan Turgenev, "A Month in the Village", was presented by Anna Astrakhantseva, Vera Glagoleva and Alexander Baluev. In total, 11 films are presented in the main competition.
As part of the festival’s documentary program, nine films were presented, including the films “My Hamlet” about Vladimir Vysotsky, directed by Vladimir Levin, “Leo Tolstoy and Ilya Gunzburg: a double portrait in the era’s interior,” directed by Galina Yevtushenko, “Boys and Girls of Doctor Zhivago” Olesya Fokina.
It should be noted that for the first time in Gatchina the national film festival “Literature and Cinema” was held in 1995. Since then, annually, for more than 20 years, it presents the latest in Russian and pestilence cinema.
