BAKU. The Russian Information and Cultural Center (RICC) in Baku recently hosted a presentation of the documentary film “Flight of the Caucasian Eagle” by young Azerbaijani director Tair Aliyev. The show was organized as part of the ongoing project "Cinema for All." The film director personally presented the guests of the event with his film.
The film "Flight of the Caucasian Eagle" tells the story of the life and courageous feat of a young pilot from Baku Huseyn Aliyev during the Second World War. Lieutenant G. Aliyev, whom his friends nicknamed "our Caucasian eagle" at the beginning of World War II, managed to make 49 sorties. The last battle, which turned out to be fatal for him, was a real feat - he alone knocked out two German planes out of three attacking him. Hussein was mortally wounded in this fight, but he managed to land the plane, and after 20 minutes his heart stopped forever. During this flight, Lieutenant Aliyev was posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin.
After showing the film “Flight of the Caucasian Eagle”, viewers also watched the feature film “Only Old Men Go to Battle” (1974, A. Dovzhenko Film Studio). The event was attended by war veterans, members of the public, cadets of the Azerbaijan Higher Military School named after Heydar Aliyev, as well as students of secondary schools of the city.
