In Yekaterinburg Youth Theater presented to the audience "The Little Mermaid" based on the original text of Andersen’s tale Automatic translate

YEKATERINBURG. In the Youth Theater they showed the first premiere of the play for young spectators, staged after the reconstruction of the building, which ended last fall. The directors chose one of the children’s favorite fairy tales written by Andersen - the touching story “The Little Mermaid”.

Only here in the play of the Youth Theater this story appeared before the audience in a slightly different form. From childhood, a familiar fairy tale sounded differently. The director of the play, Roman Feodori, used for production one of the first translations of The Little Mermaid into Russian. Its authors were Peter and Anna Hansen. In Russia, readers met him in 1895.

Composing his tales, Andersen turned to the folklore of his country, but the storyteller of the Little Mermaid came up with the storyteller himself. The plot of the tale had a lot of religious motives. It turns out that Andersen considered the main thing for the Little Mermaid not love for the prince. First of all, she sought to find a soul.

It is clear that the children under Soviet rule received an altered version of the tale, where the Little Mermaid passed all the tests for the love of the Prince. However, if we turn to the original of the tale, which the directors of the play did, it becomes clear that she gave her life not only to stay with her beloved. She wanted at least one day to become an ordinary earthly girl, to live his human life.

In the play of the Youth Theater, the sad story of the little mermaid turned into a very bright parable told by characters called "Children of the Air." After gaining a soul, the Little Mermaid, who has become an earthly girl, is sent to them.

The directors of the play made full use of all the technical capabilities of the Big Stage of the renewed theater. Especially many special effects were presented in the Underwater Kingdom, where the first action of the performance takes place.
