Voronezh "New Horizon" announced the beginning of acceptance of applications Automatic translate
VORONEZH. The organizing committee of the international short film festival “New Horizon” announced the start of applications. The film forum itself will be held at one of the venues in Voronezh in mid-April. During the first week, more than 50 works have already been sent to the festival contest, including participants from Kazakhstan, Germany, Colombia, Sweden, Ukraine and Belarus.
Pictures accepted for participation in the festival will be able to compete for victory in 11 nominations, as well as for possessing four special prizes of the film forum. The organizers of the “New Horizon” expressed hope that the number of participants this year will significantly exceed last year’s figures (in 2014, 171 films claimed to participate in the festival).
The head of the festival, Yevgeny Lebed, noted at a press conference that this year the format of the festival will be slightly improved. “One of the key innovations is a partnership with the GLAVKINO company, which will present a certificate in the amount of 200,000 rubles to one of the winners of the film festival. This certificate will give the winner the right to use the services of the company in the next shootings. I won’t tell about other prizes so that a little intrigue is preserved, ”he said. Eugene Lebed also noted that new interesting lecturers were invited to the festival.
Another innovation that the festival leader told about is the change in the symbolism of the event. Now the symbol of the “New Horizon” has become a diver, or rather a “cinema climber,” who, according to Yevgeny Lebed, “dives into the vast sea of short films and takes out pearls for the audience”.
Note that the “New Horizon” was first organized in 2007. Then the leaders of the trade union organization of VGASU decided to make their own short film. However, after filming, students faced a problem - where and to whom to show the created picture? So the idea of opening in Voronezh the international short film festival "New Horizon" appeared. In 2007, an organizing committee was formed from the VSAU students, the collection of documents, design development, sending out invitations and receiving the first applications began. More than forty films took part in the first film festival “New Horizon”. Since then, the Voronezh Short Film Festival has been held annually. Every year, the number of works sent to participate in the competition is growing, and the ranks of participants are replenished with new cinematographers from around the world.
