New reading of the play "Children of Vanyushin" at the Theater of Dramatic Improvisations Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. On February 1, the Theater of Dramatic Improvisations presented the audience with the second edition of the play “Children of Vanyushin”. About ten years have passed since the first staging of the famous play by S. Naydenov on the stage of this theater. Family-domestic drama cannot leave the audience indifferent, because the conflict of generations is a topic that does not cease to be relevant.
At first glance, the house where the family of the merchant Vanyushin lives is a symbol of prosperity. In a large family there is plenty, which guarantees confidence in the future. However, not everything is simple in a seemingly prosperous family. It would seem that the father did everything in life correctly - he raised children in severity, gave them an education, as others advised.
The result of all the concerns of his father was the transformation of a once friendly family into completely alien people, by the will of fate, living under one roof. They are united by constant quarrels, mutual reproaches, property claims. The father is trying by all means to smooth out the conflicts, trying to make the younger generation live “in good faith”, only his efforts do not find a response.
It is difficult to reconcile the grown children, who turned out to be emotionally cold, strangers to each other, with their father, who considers the assault to be education and care. The closest people become cruel to each other, and this cruelty has generated selfishness and indifference. The fate of Vanyushin in many ways recalls the tragedy of King Lear described by Shakespeare.
In the drama of the merchant family of the Vanyushins, the problems accompanying the change of generations are clearly visible. Only if in the “fathers” there is naivety and narrow-mindedness, then they are replaced by a generation of depraved and unprincipled.
Artists of different generations are engaged in the play, and the variety of characters in the play’s characters makes it possible for each of the actors to show their skills.
