DRVENGRAD. The eighth festival “Kyustendorf”, organized by the famous film director Emir Kusturica, was held in the small Serbian town of Drvengrad. The festival opened on January 21, on that day Kusturica met the guests of the movie screening personally with bread and salt, as well as the traditional Serbian national drink - fruit brandy vodka. The film forum once again took place almost at home.
The main objective of his festival, Emir Kusturica, considers the possibility of gathering on one platform both beginners and already well-known filmmakers. This year’s main competition program featured the work of young filmmakers. Masters of cinema showed their work out of competition. In particular, on the site of “Kyustendorf” - 2015 there were screenings of films by famous directors Nikita Mikhalkov (“Sunstroke”) and Andrei Konchalovsky (“White nights of the postman Alexei Tryapitsyn”). Also, as part of the festival, master classes for beginner filmmakers were held.
17 short films from 14 countries of the world, including from Russia, were included in the main program of the show. The film directed by Elena Tsodykovskaya “You have a problem” represented our country at the “Kyustendorf” festival. The plot focuses on the history of the relationship of an ordinary Russian family.
On January 26, at the closing ceremony of the festival, the results of this year were summed up. So, the main prize of “Kyustendorf” - “Golden Egg” - was received by the film “Stella Maris” directed by Giacomo Abruzzese. The film "Bag" directed by Marco Solic won the second place, for which he received a "Silver Egg". The prize for the third place - “Bronze Egg” - went to the film “Valley of the Whales” directed by Gutmundur Arnar Gudmundson.
